The photographer and videographer are best kept close to the action. Sometimes they eat in a back room, away from the reception room, or even on another level of the hotel.
The reception centre is only doing what they think is best, by giving the staff some time away from the guests to eat their dinner in peace, but the outcome can be missed footage and photos. You want your photographer and videographer as close as possible, so the can capture any spur of the moment events.
